The awards are designed to recognise and celebrate outstanding Australians, ordinary people who do extraordinary things for their local community and for Australia. Laura O\u2019Reilly received the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her service to people with disability. Laura is the co-founder of Fighting Chance, an innovative organisation based in Sydney\u2019s Northern Beaches, set up by herself and her brother Jordan O\u2019Reilly. The siblings saw how hard it was for their disabled yet talented brother, Shane O\u2019Reilly, to get work after he finished schooling.
